Dikir Barat From My Own Words

I had read, view, and feel shame of some writer who wrote about dikir barat without really study or find a clue of what dikir barat is. I'm not trying to discuss or explain of where dikir barat was born or originated because it was full of maze and cloud where it is until today debatable, but for sure what i had observe dikir barat in the form of what we here in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak including Singapura practices is based in kelantan, a state in Malaysia. It's my state, where my family and ancestors live.

Explanation of what is dikir barat or the the meaning of dikir barat is merely a folks play, entertainment of the village people after the paddy season. It comprise of singing, rhyme, choir, dance, and portray a symbolic action of unity between the members. Here i put dikir barat in my own words from what i had experienced by years of my involvement in dikir barat. My explanation is what had i learned from the people who is more experience from me, no books, no in-depth study or special note to be pull out from library, its just long life learning process. Written sources that i had found, books,wiki, or personal blogs sometime does not fulfill the requirement to be taken as the source, I'm not saying mine is solid but what ever i wrote here is well learned and confirmed. Here briefly what is Dikir barat for your understanding:-

Dikir barat is form of play which form of three part, the lead singer known as "Tok Jogho", a second singer known as "Tukang Karut", a group singer called "Awok-awok", and the Musician. This group contains of 15 to 25 personnel where the most is the "awok-awok". the orientation of performance can be a solo group performance or between group performance. If its happen to have more than one group it will be more to competition orientations. However it will depends on the occasion, some performance needs two group for a merrier situation, it's not always about competition when two dikir barat group come together but sometimes its a learning process of new dikir barat group to feel and learn from the more experience group. There is no books and manual, the way you can learn is by visually and verbally attach to the more experienced people. For more experience group they make a duel just to test how far they had improve their skills.

Tok Jogho

A lead singer where he is the first person that open the performance. Tok Jogho hold a big responsibility as the one who put the leads of what will happen next. Tok Jogho is the one who push the spirit of the whole team. Tok Jogho only will sing the opening song called lagu jogho (jogho songs) it can be of any topics and title, mostly about love, topic of campaign and many more. How it was done: the lyrics will be compose in a form of poetry with a beautiful language to be such a story in a songs. example of lyrics:

sebaris madah tersusun kata,

semakin musnah kecamuk jiwa,

seakan punah menjadi duka,

seraut wajah memikat sukma,

terasa mudah cinta dibina,

selama berpisah tak bersama,

sehari itulah paling berharga,

semusim hilangnya sang kecewa,

The opening lyrics (in bold) will be sang repeatedly by the awok-awok simultaneously with the Tok Jogho after every time Tok Jogho finish the next lyrics. the awok part will be explain in the next parts

Tukang Karut

Task of Tukang Karut is more bold and heavy because he has to hold a very big responsibility in shifting the moods not only the awok-awok but the audience. For competition, format of the songs that need to be perform by Tukang Karut is quite a long list. He is the one will explain and conclude all the points that have been mark by the Tok Jogho.

Macam mana nak install software OS X machintosh apple kat pc biasa yang terutamanya pc yang di pasang sdiri atau pon "unbranded" Desktop PC.

Anda memerlukan :
1. intel based Pc,(masih blom test pada AMD based pc)
2. DVD kosong dan komputer yang blh burn dvd (utk burn iso osx)
3. Iso OSX snow leopard.(google jer lah)
4. Sedikit kecekalan hati
5. Kesabaran & telinga kena tebal sket klu ada membe2 yg jenis suka mengutuk. percubaan kali pertama pasti tak akn perfect 100% tapi dgn research yang betul one shot tak mustahil.
6. Pastikan anda tahu siri m.board, ethernet/lan, sound dan graphic card anda utk senang cari driver, kebanyakan driver ada dlm software osx tetapi byk juga yang tak ada. maklumlah custom untuk computer apple katakan.klu driver takde google jer..

Langkah-Langkah yang perlu:
1.Fresh install, langkah ini juga blh diguna pakai untuk dual boot
-Buat satu partition atau dgn eseus partition magic(aku pakai sbb free n sgt senang nak pakai) sekitar 25GB, ia untuk OSX dan software yang nak di install. buat partition ni letak nama terus supaya tak kacau partition lain.
-masuk bios dan set 1st boot ke cd/dvd. setting bergantung kepada motherboard korang, tapi selalunya tekan delete masa load bios dia akan direct ke bios setting.
-masuk dvd osx tadi ke dalam dvd rom dan restart pc.
-boot ke dvd dan darwinload screen dgn countdown dan arahan utk teka F8.
-tekan F8 dan OSX akan boot masuk ke proses installation.
-Selepas osx load masuk ke pre install environment, klik pada Utilities > Disk Utility.
-Pilih partition untuk install,

erase partition dan pilih format “MAC OSX Journaled Extended”. setelah selesai tutup disk utilities, click next dan AGREE to the term and condition.
-page seterusnya select customize kat blah kiri bawah, pilih Video Driver, Sound Card Driver dan network driver yang berkenaan dgn hardware korang sahaja. tekan Done pastu proceed ke step seterusnya.

- installation akn mengambil masa lebih kurang 20 minit. setelah segalanya selesai.. enjoy ur HACKINTOSH!!

bila bersama dgn budak2 geng sutra pawana uiam ni mmg byk benda akan berlaku. klu di tempat trening dgn mcm2 ragam yang tak pernah habis, ada2 saja lawak yang nak di buat. usik mengusik antara satu sama lain seperti adik beradik. dalam perjalanan ke melaka haritu pon ada kejadian yang lucu, ada yang sesat sampai ke klang, yang tak tahan nya konfiden jln tu betul siap ada sorang tu cek gps lagi. btl dah jln ni ada tunjuk melaka tapi ada pagar, dia org nak lompat pagar tu dgn kereta ke apa. kesian si bob yg ikut blakang.. tension kata bob.. yang dalam kereta depan tu si tukang karut dgn esisten si amis. konfiden lbh2 lagi... piji cemerlang haritu sbb tak salah jln... tahniah piji. persembahan sutra pawana di melaka tak menghampakan walaupon masa tabuh buka basa tu jom bano kena sabotaj dgn pemain alat lain kecuali gong dgn canang.. hahaha.. lucu2.. itu peringatan utk set2 main alat jgn leka.

Add Mp3 Player to your blog

With Google Gadget, you can easily add a MP3 Player to your blog. I have added one at the bottom of the right sidebar in this blog. All I have to do is to go to Google Gadget, choose "MP3 Player", click "Add to your webpage" and will be taken to the page Add this gadget to your webpage. You can set, title, the height and width of the MP3 Player. A default URL of a song is already added for you. If you have your own song hosted somewhere, all you have to do is to replace the URL of the default song with the URL of your own song.

In the case of the above blog, a check of the template revealed this:

That is, the width of the sidebar is 260 pixels. I thus set the width of the MP3 Player to 255 (see screenshot below):

Pendet dance which came to blow a big discussion among Indonesian and Malaysian when Malaysia tourism videos had include pendet dance or tarian pendet as part of their promotion of the culture where inherited by Malay in Malaysia. This had being a big issue when some uneducated minded people whose in need for attention had voice out their views by persuade the people that Malaysian had steal the Indonesian culture. If there any patent for tarian pendet by the Indonesian it should be a breach of laws by Malaysian producer, however it’s a matter of shared culture among the Asian where it may came from Indonesia but what can be debate if Malaysia put it into attention and say that it’s also a Malaysian culture? It’s a share culture and not something that can be taken as a national issue that can jeopardize ones nation safety.

The most stupid action by Indonesian is to attack the Malaysian air force plane when they send humanitarian help after the earthquake. It’s not only show their stupidity and lack of rationality also lack of respect for their neighbor who wants to help. Only because of small matter like tarian pendet they want to have war with Malaysia where it does not give any rational reason. The Malaysian air force plane had damage because being throwing with hard objects such as stone and woods, who want to pay for the damages? Indonesian government? Its Malaysian tax payer money and for only reason to help a people who live with a jungle rules. I said... For Malaysian stop helping and let them suffer because they refuse to accept from us.

Malaysian in Indonesia which consist of student and tourist also live in danger when a group of the extremist had voice out to take revenge and will attack any Malaysian with buluh runcing a sharpen bamboo that can be use as a lethal weapon for killing. Because of tarian pendet Malaysian life become endangered in Indonesia land. Malaysia citizen had being warned to be aware of this threat;

the Indonesian media also had played a big role in damaging the situation. they had manipulate the issue to get a higher sale and blow the horn for a clash, Indonesia are well known as their bravery and dare to die spirit (I like to call this as overwhelming stupidity) and this had being fertilize with provocation by the media. Stupid and non rational society always a media victim and this had clearly show the attitude and level of thinking among the Indonesian.

Dikir barat and wayang kulit also a shared cultured and dikir barat which is come from Malaysia are now played by the Malay in Singapore as part of their culture performance and activity. They called it dikir Singapore however the main base for the culture is in Malaysia. It’s nothing to be taken as a reason for a war because culture is shared and evolve. Malaysia doesn’t patent the tarian pendet as a Malaysian owned but it shows that we have it here as how Indonesian have it at their place. Just a simple idea but how come such a people in a large country cannot understand those ideas? Are there no more people that can think wisely in Indonesia? Or they just want to have a free ride to popularize their country on Malaysia tourism videos? Pity them because they are fighting with their own shadow. A little story of tarian pendet where I get from the web I put here,

This dance symbolizes the reception on the descent of gods into the earth. Tari Pendet is created by two Balinese Dancers Maestro, Mr. I Wayan Rindi and Mrs. Ni Ketut Reneng in 1950. Mr. Wayan Rindi is a Balinese Maestro that is known for his ability to compose and preserve the art of dance through generations. He is teaching many Balinese Dance to including Tari Pendet to the society and the family.

In 1961 another Maestro Mr. I Wayan Beratha processed the Tari Pendet again. Pattern of dance from I Wayan Beratha is used until now.

latihan diadakan bersama antara kelab dikir barat sutra pawana dan kelab dikir barat istana budaya yang baru ditubuhkan. persembahan julung-julung kali ini diadakan bersama kumpulan kesenian sri samudra. format persembahan adalah berlawan antara dua pasukan iaitu sri samudra dan kumpula dikir barat istana budaya.ia diadakan dgn kerjasama antara istana budaya, kumpulan kesenian sri smudra dan kelab dikir barat sutra pawana.
